I think it’s time more people actually understand this basic principle of pharmacology.
When a product is labeled “Testosterone Enanthate 250 mg/ml,” that label is 100% correct. But what most people don’t realize is that 250 mg of Test Enanthate does not equal 250 mg of active testosterone.
Yes, but pause there for a second.
I ran into this myself years ago and nearly lost my mind. I was dosing NPP and Primobolan under the assumption that I was getting 250 mg of testosterone per injection.
I wasn’t.
What I was actually injecting was 250 mg of Testosterone Enanthate. Pharmacies and manufacturers aren’t lying, this is proper labeling. But once the drug is in your body and the ester is cleaved, the molecular weight drops. That ester doesn’t contribute to anabolic activity; it only controls release time.
So after the ester is removed, 250 mg of Testosterone Enanthate yields roughly 180 mg of actual testosterone.
That distinction matters. Especially when you’re comparing compounds, stacking, or trying to balance androgen load intelligently.
Here’s the breakdown:
Testosterone Suspension (no ester) 100% actual testosterone 250 mg testosterone 0 mg ester
Testosterone Acetate ~83% actual testosterone ~208 mg testosterone ~42 mg ester
Testosterone Propionate ~80% actual testosterone ~200 mg testosterone ~50 mg ester
Testosterone Phenylpropionate (TPP) ~75% actual testosterone ~188 mg testosterone ~62 mg ester
Testosterone Isocaproate ~72% actual testosterone ~180 mg testosterone ~70 mg ester
Testosterone Enanthate ~72% actual testosterone ~180 mg testosterone ~70 mg ester
Testosterone Cypionate ~69–70% actual testosterone ~173 mg testosterone ~77 mg ester
Testosterone Decanoate ~65% actual testosterone ~163 mg testosterone ~87 mg ester
Testosterone Undecanoate ~63% actual testosterone ~158 mg testosterone ~92 mg ester
As you can see in this German brand, they label it as such. "1 ml Injektionslösung enthält 250 mg Testosteron enantat entsprechend 180 mg Testosteron" = "1 ml injection solution contains 250 mg testosterone enanthate corresponding to 180 mg testosterone".
--> So factor in esters when planning a cycle.
