Hi guys my dermatologist prescribed lymecycline (Tetralysal) for my acne. She wants me to take this for 2 months and after that she will draw blood and get me started on isotretinoin (Roaccutane). Only thing i’m worried about is: will the lymecycline interfere with my muscle recovery and overall muscle gains on cycle? Some people tell me it kills the gains because its an antibiotic, but when i search info about this it says it doesn’t affect on muscle gains, … What do you guys think or does anyone have experience with this? Also i’m not sure if this is the right section for my thread so if it’s not im sorry😅.

Hello.

If you are using steroids, you usually don't have to worry about loss of gains. The environment is anabolic and in barely two months you will never be able to see the difference.

Currently, the phase you are going to undertake is focused on the management of your acne. So is this goal compatible with steroids? 😁

One thing after another. But don't really worry about antibiotics versus muscle recovery.

Hey!
Don't worry, Lymecycline (Tetralysal) won't 'kill' your gains.
It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria, but it doesn't affect human muscle protein synthesis.
Studies on healthy individuals show that tetracycline-class antibiotics have no negative impact on muscle strength, enzyme activity, or 𝑉𝑂2 max.

A few things to keep in mind:

Gut Health: The only way it might indirectly affect your progress is through your gut microbiome. If your digestion gets hit, it might slightly affect nutrient absorption or your energy levels. Adding a probiotic to your routine can help mitigate this.

Supplements: If you're taking Zinc, Magnesium, Iron, or calcium supplements, make sure to space them out. Take them at least 2–3 hours apart from the Lymecycline, as they can significantly decrease the antibiotic's absorption.

Transitioning to Accutane: This is the part where you need to be more careful. Isotretinoin is known to cause joint and muscle pain in some lifters. It also puts stress on the liver, which is a major factor if your 'cycle' includes any orals.

CRITICAL SAFETY: Do NOT overlap Lymecycline and Accutane.
Combining them can cause a dangerous spike in intracranial pressure (pseudotumor cerebri). Make sure there is a clear gap between finishing the antibiotic and starting the isotretinoin.

Bottom line: You’re good to keep training hard.
Lymecycline won't mess with your hypertrophy.
Good luck with the skin!
