Hi everybody,

I'm about to start my first cycle of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). I've never used testosterone before, and I thought a dosage of 140 mg/week would be a good starting point (0.08 ml daily injection).

I bought the Androlex 250 mg/ml flask of 10 ml.

I'm not hypogonadist, but my blood tests show a total testosterone level near the low end of the normal range (427) and a low average free testosterone level.

What do you think of my approach? I'm hoping for a better body composition and to feel more energetic.

Thanks to everyone who reads this and wants to reply!

Hi Djor!!

140 mg/week is a reasonable place to start if the decision to use TRT is already made, but I’d separate two things first: a total T of 427 by itself does not automatically mean you need replacement, especially if you’re not hypogonadal. Symptoms, repeat morning labs, SHBG/free T, LH/FSH and the rest of the picture matter.

On the injections, daily is probably unnecessary with a long ester like enanthate or cypionate. Their release is slow enough that 2 injections per week is already very stable for most people, and even 3x/week is more than enough if you prefer smaller fluctuations. Daily pinning adds hassle without much practical benefit here.

Also check your math carefully: with 250 mg/mL, 0.08 mL is 20 mg, so daily would actually be 140 mg/week.

My advice would be to start simple, keep the frequency sensible, then recheck symptoms and bloodwork after levels have had time to stabilize before changing anything.

TRT should be boring and predictable 😁 That’s usually a good sign.

Thanks for your feedback, Shark!

Indeed, I'm not in hypogonadism and I don't have any particular symptoms except that I'm less energetic, I tire more easily, and my recovery is more difficult! My libido is okay, but I'm not as horny as I was in my 20s! haha

Yes, that's right; 140mg/week!

My question is: If I do this treatment, will I build muscle more easily? Would cutting be easier? (less muscle loss?). Or is it not worth it considering my blood tests? I'm not looking to compete, but I'd like to reach the peak I've never been able to achieve naturally...

Thanks in advance!

Sure Djor! Of course!!. And actually, if you’re going to take this step, I’d love to see you document the whole journey properly from day one.

Share your current condition with us: age, height, weight, approximate BF, how many years you’ve trained, current training, diet, cardio, complete baseline bloodwork and, if you’re comfortable, some starting pictures.

Then we can build a proper log around you (I am in to help!!!) Not just testosterone numbers, but energy, libido, mood, sleep, recovery, strength, bodyweight, waist and actual changes in your physique.

Because you’re 40 and you’re not trying to compete. Your goal is something much more interesting: finding out whether you can reach the version of yourself that you always felt was just slightly out of reach.

And if you’re going to do it, don’t waste the opportunity by looking only at hormones. Train properly, eat with purpose and use this as the beginning of a complete physical change.

Give us the starting point and keep updating the thread. We’ll gladly help you read the changes and adjust the direction along the way.

This could become a really good log!! Count with me!!
