Let’s be clear.
It doesn’t matter if you’re jabbing deep into the muscle (IM), sliding into a vein (IV), or just tucking it under the skin (subq)…
EVERY pin is a chance for bacteria to ruin your week, your cycle, and possibly your arm.
You want to grow, not get a hospital bracelet.
Why Hygiene Is Everything
When you pierce your skin, you’re giving germs an open door to your bloodstream.
Oil, peptides, or water-based gear don’t matter if they’re dirty, or your hands and tools are dirty, you’re done.
One sloppy pin can turn into an abscess, cellulitis, or a full-blown blood infection. None of that is “hardcore.” It’s just stupid.
The Basics That Keep You Out of Trouble
1. Wash your hands like you’re about to do surgery
Not the quick rinse. Real soap, hot water, 20 seconds minimum. Dry with something clean.
2. Use alcohol swabs
One for the vial stopper, one for the injection site. Wipe in one direction, don’t scrub back and forth like you’re sanding wood.
3. Never reuse needles
They’re cheap. Your health isn’t. A dull needle shreds tissue, and a dirty one can put you in a hospital bed.
4. Keep your gear clean and closed
Store vials in a dry, cool place. Cap your pins until you’re ready.
Subq (Subcutaneous): is under the skin, into the fat layer.
Common for peptides, HGH, or low-volume oil.
Even if it’s a tiny insulin needle, treat it with the same respect as IM.
IV (Intravenous)
First off: this is NOT for beginners and not for most compounds.
If you’re here, you better know exactly what you’re doing.
One screw-up and you’re talking about air embolisms or hitting an artery… game over.
IM (Intramuscular)
The bread and butter of PED use.
You’re going deep into the muscle, so bigger needle, bigger risk if you’re dirty.
Bonus: The Mindset
Don’t get cocky.
Just because you’ve pinned a hundred times without a problem doesn’t mean you’re immune.
Hygiene isn’t about being paranoid! it’s about making sure your cycle is about gains, not antibiotics.
Final Word
Clean hands. Clean gear. Clean sites. Every single time.
It doesn’t matter if it’s subq, IV, or IM
dirt is dirt, and dirt inside your body is bad news.
Respect the pin, respect your body, and you’ll spend your cycle growing instead of explaining to a Doc!

- Pin into a clean, alcohol-wiped spot
- Avoid bruises by pinching the skin and going in at 45–90 degrees
- Rotate spots to avoid lumps and scar tissue
IV (Intravenous)
First off: this is NOT for beginners and not for most compounds.
If you’re here, you better know exactly what you’re doing.
One screw-up and you’re talking about air embolisms or hitting an artery… game over.
- Always use sterile, single-use needles
- Prep the vein site with alcohol and let it dry
- Don’t rush the push, steady pressure is safer
- Watch for swelling, burning, or discoloration — pull out if anything feels wrong
IM (Intramuscular)
The bread and butter of PED use.
You’re going deep into the muscle, so bigger needle, bigger risk if you’re dirty.
- Rotate sites (glutes, delts, ventroglutes, quads)
- Don’t jam too much volume into one muscle, spread it out
- Let the alcohol dry before you pin so it doesn’t burn going in
- Insert smooth and steady, pull out the same way
