I've been using Driada's Somatotropin for some time now, and I'm very happy with it, so this is not a complaint. Recently it happened two times that, when pulling the needle out of the vial stopper, a small amount of liquid also poured out, and I smelled something like burnt rubber. I'm wondering is this the smell of the solvents used in the product? Because as far as I know, both HGH itself and the bacteriostatic water are free of any smells. Again, I have zero problems with the product and I'm still happily pinning it without any sides, but I'm really curious as to why it smells like that. I've never smelled any of these products before.

Hi there.

I've already had the case with liquid hgh.I looked for a long time why until I had lantus.
And in fact it smells the same as liquid insulin.

It's not the product but the product concervator like phenol who have this smell (of straw burning for me). I also sometimes have this taste in the back of my throat when I probably inject a capillary vessels.

So nothing serious, you can use the product safely.

Hi,

Do you mean liquid growth hormone or the lyophilized version?

Ah, so I'm not the only one noticing it. I never had any problem with it, so I just continued pinning with no worries. Thanks!

If it's liquid growth hormone, that's to be expected. As @SalvatoreCorvus said, insulin has exactly the same smell, and apparently it's the smell of the stabilizer — the substance that makes growth hormone more stable at different temperatures.

So everything is fine, you're not the first to notice it. I've smelled it many times myself, since I prefer the liquid form of growth hormone.

The burnt rubber smell could come from preservatives used to stabilize the liquid HGH formulations. phenol and similar compounds have a distinctive chemical odor, which some people also notice with injectable insulin. this is due to the formulation rather than somatropin itself.
