Hello,
I would like to know if abdominal pain is common when taking tirzepatide.
I started my injections two months ago; I take them once a week, every Sunday.
For the first four weeks, I had no issues at the 2.5 mg dose.
In the fifth week, I moved up to 5 mg. I started experiencing pain (accompanied by gas and rotten-egg-tasting burps) on Tuesday morning. The symptoms were manageable and cleared up very quickly.
The following Tuesday was a nightmare: massive gas, disgusting burps, and, above all, severe pain that forced me to lie down at work. It lasted until Wednesday morning.
Since then, I have continued to experience the same symptoms (though much milder than on that particular Tuesday) 30–48 hours after the injection.
Is there a solution to reduce the side effects of trizapeptide?
Regards,

Hello.

This is a possible symptom. I have also experienced this more than once when the dose has risen too suddenly.

Go back to the dose that you don't have a problem with and do a gentler increment. By going through 3mg then 4mg etc. And only increase if necessary and if you have validated this dose without any hard side effects (which sometimes can take time to disappear)

You practically doubled the dose, and that can be really tough on your system. Getting used to it can take as much time as the new dose stabilizes in your system, which means that the side effects will appear week by week on the days when the concentration in your blood is the highest. Doubling your dose is harsh, you can increment by smaller steps. Was the abdominal pain similar to having cramps from the gas and burps?

Just ease into the dosage gradually and you won't have any issues. Standard protocols don't work good for everyone, so sometimes you gotta tweak things to fit your own body.

Okay, thanks everyone.
During "Black Tuesday" 😏, I’d say yes—my pain felt like cramps that literally made me double over. My stomach was hard and bloated. Passing gas and burping acted somewhat like a pressure-release valve.
Since the side effects are easing up as the weeks go by, I’m going to stick with 5 mg next weekend.
I won’t increase the dose until the side effects have completely vanished, and I’ll do so much more gradually.

Yeah it can feel week by week as if it never ends, but then it will just go away and you will feel fine. I just raised my Reta dose from 3.3 to 4 mg, and the first month on 3.3 was really bad. I thought the suffering would return after raising to 4 mg, but it's absolutely fine now, so it seems that you don't always have to struggle after a slight raise. Good luck!
